MDAEYC supports the override of Governor Hogan’s veto of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
Background: During the 2020 legislative session, the Maryland General Assembly passed the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, a sweeping education reform bill that includes early education funding and a phase-in of Universal pre-K. Educators who have been following this legislation will remember that it is based on the Kirwan Commission’s recommendations for improving education in our state.
MDAEYC supports this once-in-a-generation opportunity to make substantial new investments in education and implement needed reforms, including more funding for Pre-K, Judy Centers, Infant and Toddlers programs, and Family Support programs. MDAEYC is a member of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Coalition and partners with Strong Schools Maryland.

2019 Legislation – The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future (SB 1030 ) is the legislation that began initial implementation of portions of the Kirwan Commission recommendations.
